Teach For GOALS Internship Program

The Teach For GOALS Internship Program is a college level volunteer initiative designed to give college students the opportunity to obtain real-world work experience in a professional setting. Opportunities include professional development and experience in non-profit work, youth programming, education, kinesiology, community service, STEAM, grant writing, administrative work, and programming geared towards individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. By partnering with local colleges and universities - including Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Long Beach, UCI, etc. - GOALS provides hands-on site based training that will prepare volunteer for life in the workforce.  

Available Opportunities

Location: Anaheim, CA

Population: 5 - 18 years old

Summary:

With the guidance and supervision of the Site Program Coordinator and/or Program Coordinators, student interns will have the opportunity to assist in leading groups of school-age participants in a quality after-school program setting. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to assist in leading the students through various educational activities, which provide academic, social, emotional, and physical enrichment.

Location: Anaheim, CA

Population: Adults with physical and developmental disabilities

Summary:

​​Student interns will be involved in a hands-on learning experience with the guidance and supervision of GOALS staff members. GOALS, in partnership with My Day Counts (a local nonprofit that prepares the population for the workforce), allows interns the opportunity to assist in leading groups of adults with disabilities in a quality program setting. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to assist in leading the participants through a variety of activities, including adaptive sports, nutritional workshops, job training, therapeutic gardening, and fine arts.

Location: Huntington Beach, CA

Population: 4th - 5th grade students

Summary:

With the guidance and supervision of GOALS staff members, student interns will have the opportunity to expand their professional development skills by assisting in leading groups of participants in a quality after-school program setting. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to assist in leading the youth through various programmatic components, including educational enrichment, homework assistance, physical fitness, and off-campus excursions.

Location: Placentia, CA

Population: 6th - 8th grade students

Summary:

Student interns will assist in leading groups of participants in a quality after-school program setting with the guidance and supervision of the Site Program Coordinator and/or Program Coordinators. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to assist in leading the students through educational enrichment, homework assistance, physical fitness, and off-campus field trips geared towards providing academic, social, emotional, and physical enrichment.

Location: Anaheim, CA and Huntington Beach, CA

Population: 6th - 12th grade students

Summary:

With the guidance and supervision of GOALS staff members, student interns will have the opportunity to assist in leading groups of school-age participants in a quality community-service summer program setting. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to assist in leading the students through various service learning projects, which include cleaning-up nature centers, removing graffiti at parks, mentoring elementary age students, and working with adults withs physical and developmental disabilities in adaptive sports, nutritional workshops, therapeutic gardening, and fine arts.

ValTech Internship Program

The ValTech Internship Program is a high school level volunteer initiative designed to give incoming high school seniors the opportunity to obtain firsthand real-world work experience in the fields of technology, business, and art. By partnering with Valencia High School within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, GOALS provides opportunities to obtain professional development and experience in developing marketing materials, public relations, business campaigns, photography, videography, and graphic design. In addition, student interns will also partake in a series of professional development trainings intended to prepare them for life in the workforce.

Location: Anaheim, CA

Population: 5 - 18 years old

Summary:

With the guidance and supervision of the Director of Program Enrichment and other GOALS staff, student interns will have the opportunity to partake in technologically, business, and art based projects intended to expose them to the field and develop their experiences in it. The intern is responsible for using strong leadership skills and flexibility to work on their assigned projects, which will result in a tangible product intended to support GOALS programming and operations.

College Interns:

  • TB Test 

  • Livescan Background Check

  • COVID-19 Vaccine

  • Not listed on National Sex Offender Public Registry

High School Interns: 

  • Teacher Letter of Recommendation
